Indonesian ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto has requested a two-day exhibition on health and related products to be held in Preah Sihanouk, noting that many Indonesians residing in the coastal province have limited knowledge about healthcare.

The envoy made the appeal during his meeting with provincial deputy governor Mang Sinet on March 19, as reported by the provincial administration on March 20.

Darmosumarto noted that provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun had previously briefed him on the substantial Indonesian population in the province, many of whom lack healthcare knowledge.

To address the issue, he said the Indonesian embassy plans to organise a two-day health and health product exhibition from June 8-9.

The ambassador explained that the first day of the event will feature a health counselling forum exclusively for Indonesians. On the following day, an exhibition showcasing health-related products will take place, open to both Cambodian and Indonesian attendees.

Darmosumarto observed that these products are already available in the Cambodian market.

“At the same time, the embassy and an Indonesian medical team will collaborate with Cambodian hospitals to provide examinations, treatments and consultations free of charge,” he added, noting that the event would feature 10 standard booths.

During the meeting, Darmosumarto requested the participation of Cambodian speakers alongside their Indonesian counterparts at the exhibition to enhance health benefits for both communities, including maternal and child health.

Sinet expressed his support for the initiative and promised to relay the request to Chamroeun.

He added that the administration would promote the event extensively and welcome Indonesian investors and residents in the province.

“We are committed to coordinating this event in Preah Sihanouk. Cambodia and Indonesia have enjoyed 65 years of excellent relations and cooperation, with 11,649 Indonesians, including 2,488 women, staying in hotels, guesthouses, rented houses, condos and enterprises in the region,” he stated.
