The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) together with the Cambodian Association of Nurses (CAN) on December 9 organized the “Cambodian Association of Nurses Congress 2022”.
The congress, along with a conference, was presided over by Minister of Health Mam Bunheng, and Rho Hyunjun, country director of KOICA Cambodia office, along with Prak Manila, President of the Cambodian Association of Nurses, according to their press statement.
The event was attended by 300 people from related entities, such representatives from the Ministry of Health, KOICA, as well as the chief of nurses from 25 provincial hospitals and national hospitals.
The congress reviewed the main achievements of CAN from 2019-2022, to motivate nurses from practice settings to implement the concept of patient centered care in practice, and to share the development of the nursing unit at the Ears Nose Throat Project in Preah Ang Duong Hospital, among others.
Rho Hyunjun said at the event that KOICA has been supporting many projects and programs in the fields of water management and public health, education, agriculture and rural development, and transportation at a value of about $336.7 million from 1991-2022.
He said one of KOICA’s priorities is Cambodia’s health sector because the improvement of people's health is the highest priority in Cambodia.
“This year, KOICA has a plan to construct another building in the National Pediatric Hospital, and KOICA is considering constructing one more building in Dangkor Referral Hospital from 2024,” he said.
Bunheng expressed his thanks to KOICA, the government and the people of the Republic of Korea for their technical, material and financial support for Cambodia’s health sector.
According to the statement, KOICA has built many buildings in the capital and several provinces in an effort to contribute to healthcare in Cambodia.
