The Ministry of Commerce is encouraging traders to participate in the 4th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), scheduled from April 13-18 in Haikou, the capital of China’s Hainan province.
According to a statement issued by the ministry on March 12, the exhibition aims to showcase and promote the products of its 44 international sister cities and facilitate further practical cooperation.
The organising committee has provided a number of booths to display Cambodian goods in accordance with product categories and quantities.
Ministry spokesperson Penn Sovicheat stated on March 13 that the expo is consistent with previous years, with the Chinese side aiming for international traders, including Cambodia, to showcase their brands and expand their markets.
“The commerce ministry, on behalf of the facilitators, encourages our traders and companies’ owners to participate in the [exhibition], especially local firms, to bring Cambodian-made goods to the international market,” he emphasised.
Te Taingpor, president of the Federation of Associations for Small and Medium Enterprises of Cambodia (FASMEC), views the event as an opportunity for local operations to showcase their goods.
“As far as I can remember, in April last year, more than 3,000 brands from 65 countries and territories participated in the expo, which attracted more than 320,000 people. I think this is a good opportunity for us to display our products to the Chinese and international markets,” he said.
The exhibition expects to see an even larger number of participants and exhibitors this year compared to last, according to the ministry.
