The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has summoned a man suspected of being involved in the fatal shooting of another at the Soup and Family KTV Happiness Restaurant located in Boeung Raing commune two weeks ago.

Prosecutor Keo Sothea summoned suspect Duong Monirath, 27, to appear at the Daun Penh district police station before February 3 to answer questions related to the murder investigation.

The move came after district police linked the suspect to the fatal shooting of Ho Minea, a DJ at Urban Beer House BKK who was shot in the head.

Tieng Chansa, Daun Penh district police chief, said he received the court order instructing the suspect to appear at his office.

“I am not sure whether or not the suspect will appear as instructed by the court. If it orders us to arrest him, we will implement the warrant. The police are always ready to implement court orders,” he said.

After police identified the suspect, Boeung Raing commune police chief Bun Bros said he had fled and noted he was friends with the victim, who died at the scene due to the headshot.

“After shooting the victim, the suspect left the restaurant and sped off with the help of three men in a car and a motorcycle, who came to pick him up. The victim is a DJ at Urban Beer House BKK. The suspect’s motive remains a mystery,” Bros said following the shooting.
