Korsak Chairasmisak, co-vice-chairman of Thailand-based CP All Public, promised Prime Minister Hun Sen that he would sponsor 30 Cambodian children to study Go, a strategy game sometimes referred to as “Chinese chess”.

He proposed that the students study in Thailand, and offered to cover all expenses.

During an August 16 courtesy call at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, Korsak told the premier that his current visit was to contribute to Cambodia’s human resource development.

The strategy game consists of black and white balls that are moved around a board. The game originated in China around 3,000 years ago.

Korsak, who is currently a Go instructor, told Hun Sen that 30 Cambodian children aged 10 to 12 should be selected for the training.

Hun Sen thanked Korsak for providing the opportunity to learn in Thailand, and invited him to speak with Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron regarding the scholarships.
