Criminal background check process goes digital

To increase the efficiency of criminal background checks, the Ministry of Justice will trial a digital application process from February 6.

In a February 3 public notice, the ministry said that moving the process to a digital platform would makes applications faster and easier for the public.

The transformation is a part of the modernisation of state institution, as stated in the government’s fourth rectangular strategy.

During the trial phase, applicants will be able to complete an online form, although they will still need to visit the ministry’s criminal record department to thumbprint the form and pay a service fee, as well as providing certain necessary documents.

Applicants can download the CR-MOJ app from the App store or Play store and simply follow the instructions, or at https://cr.moj.gov.kh/.

Those who wish to personally apply directly at the ministry may still do so.
