Koh Kong province’s Sre Ambel district administration informed the chiefs of all six communes in the district to encourage residents who have reached 15 years of age or older to apply for Cambodian National Identification cards and remind those whose ID cards are about to expire to renew them.
In a notification letter sent to all communes on November 17, Sre Ambel district governor Hong Bros said that the identification card team will be working from November 21 to December 30 and all new ID cards and renewals for district residents should be taken care of in that period, with specific dates assigned to each commune.
National ID cards are valid for 10 years, and according to the Ministry of Interior’s database there are 1.7 million people with ID cards that expired before July, 2022.
The interior ministry said in October that those holding expired ID cards needed to renew them within the next 90 days to ensure receipt of a new card for use in voting in next year’s general election.
