The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport announced that the formal opening of the academic year would be on January 2, 2023 for public primary schools for the 2022-2023 academic year, according to the Ministry of Education on December 9.

The ministry instructed all departments of education in the capital and provinces, educational offices of towns and district administrations, and public primary schools to conduct study activities for the 2022-2023 academic year from that date.

The ministry said that the 2022-2023 academic year will complete on November 30, 2023.

“We will open the academic year on January 2, 2023. Vacations will be: From April 6 to May 18, 2023 and from December 1 to 31, 2023,” the ministry stated.

It detailed that the formal opening day of the academic year must be celebrated on January 2, 2023. All schools must prepare banners and slogans to celebrate the school day before the celebration and invite the leaders or officials of the Ministry of Education, the Departments of Education in the capital and provinces, educational offices of town and district administrations, local authorities, community representatives, parents or guardians of students.

The ministry added that the process of primary education focused on school reform through the implementation of child-friendly school programmes and school management in order to ensure quality, equitable and inclusive education, and to offer lifelong learning opportunities for all in line with the goals and objectives of education reform and education strategic plan.
