A storage facility in the compound of a bag factory in northern Takeo province, known by the abbreviation S L Y, was completely levelled by a fire on May 28, leaving one man injured.

A Takeo police report said the facility was destroyed by 8pm in the inferno, but firefighters managed to put out the flames, preventing their spread to nearly buildings.

With an area of 60m by 45m, the facility stored polystyrene cooler boxes, and was located in Samrong district’s Boeung Tranh Khang Choeung commune in the southern province, the report noted.

Takeo provincial police chief Sok Samnang said firefighters had to truck in 14 tankers of water to combat the blaze, reportedly caused by electrical fault. There was no word on the extent of the damage.
