At least three men sustained serious injuries and two motorboats were destroyed when a fire broke out aboard two vessels moored alongside one another on the Kampot town riverside at around 4pm yesterday, Sunday, April 13.

The National Police’s Department of Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue reported today that the fire took place on the river in front of Heng Rasmey Restaurant.

The three injured individuals were identified as local men You Su, 40, Chhin Rattheary, 35, and Phan Pheakdey, 29.

The fire reportedly broke out as a technician removed a fuel pump reservoir for cleaning.

The Provincial Fire Prevention and Rescue Office responded with two appliances and extinguished the blaze by 7.15pm.
