The labour ministry on June 2 announced that four more former workers of the NagaWorld integrated resort have agreed to accept a severance package to end their contracts, and that it would help them on their job hunt.

They are among a group of 373 workers laid off due to the Covid-19 pandemic who sought intervention from Minister of Interior Sar Kheng to push the operator to provide severance pay as per the labour law, the spokesperson office of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training noted in the announcement.

The office said that ministry officials had cross-checked with company representatives and verified that the severance package was consistent with the labour law and other pertinent legal provisions.

"As of June 2 … 196 of the 373 former employees had accepted severance pay, with only 177 continuing to reject the compensation offered,” it said, adding that the ministry’s National Employment Agency (NEA) would be “ready” to make their job search easier.
