FUNCINPEC on the Air

FUNCINPEC TV was set to begin transmitting on its own television channel on May 7

but not before a bitter showdown with SOC officials who confiscated the broadcasting

equipment when it was brought it into the country.

SOC officials only agreed to release the equipment following in†ervention by UNTAC

chief Yasushi Akashi.

FUNCINPEC TV will be available daily on channel 9 starting at 7 p.m. Programs will

include general news, cultural shows and campaign updates.
