The founder of the Higher Education Fair, , said this year’s 3rd event of its kind would create the opportunity for high school students – especially those in grade 12 – to gather information on admissions and scholarships at universities, in one convenient event.

In addition, the fair supports the government’s goal of encouraging more students to pursue higher education, she said.

The two-day fair will take place in the courtyard of the Olympia Market, with more than 60 booths from educational institutions, both public and private. There will be information available on a wide range of subjects from each institution, meaning every student who attends will be able to find out how best to pursue their passion.

Apart from the university booths, attendees will also be able to browse bookstores and food sellers.

The 28-year-old founder encouraged all students to participate because she believes that the fair would allow them to open themselves up to seeing the wider world – and their place in it – through access to comprehensive information.

She said they will receive guidance, advice, and especially encouragement from current university seniors, who will help prepare them for their studies.

Participants will also have fun and build relationships with their friends and fellow attendees, she added.

Ly Sano, a fundamental-year student at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, attended the Higher Education Fair in 2019. He said beyond the admission information that he could find elsewhere, the event allowed him to get a better feel for what university might really be like than any other event he had attended.

Sano also enjoyed the entertainment provided by many of the university booths, including academic activities like quizzes – with prizes – and hands-on activities, from chemistry experiments to models crafted by architecture students.

The 3rd Higher Education Fair will be held on October 15-16, from 9am to 9pm at the Olympia Shopping Mall.

Students and the public are welcome to attend this free-to-enter event and learn about university admissions, as well as scholarship information. They will hear from various speakers in the higher education field, as well as having the chance to be entertained by many of the stalls and booths on display.
