After receiving news that US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have been infected with Covid-19, Prime Minister Hun Sen on Saturday sent a message wishing them a speedy recovery from the disease.
In the letter, Hun Sen said: “My wife and I are very saddened to learn that Your Excellency and the First Lady have tested positive for Covid-19, while the US and the world are fighting against this new disease and addressing its severe impact on the economies and people’s livelihoods.
“My wife and I would like to convey our best wishes to Your Excellency and the First Lady for a speedy recovery and good health.”
According to a Friday CNN report, Dr Sean Conley, Trump’s personal doctor, said Trump and Melania tested positive on Thursday evening.
The two said they would quarantine immediately. One of Trump’s personal assistants, Hope Hicks, also tested positive for Covid-19.
Conley wrote: “The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.
“The White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our country’s greatest medical professionals and institutions.
“I expect the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any further developments.”
Covid-19 has killed over 200,000 Americans and over one million people throughout the world.
