Sen Sok district police on Tuesday continued to question two foreigners over possession of illegal firearms and compounds for the production of illicit drugs after their arrest in Phnom Penh Thmey commune’s Bayab village.

District police chief Hour Meng Vang identified the suspects as a 21-year-old tourist and an internet shop owner, 41. He said both suspects were from Taiwan.

“They are being detained in Sen Sok district police station to [assist] in the search for their accomplices,” he said on Tuesday.

District police officials in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior’s Anti-drug Division and the Phnom Penh Municipal Court raided the man’s rented house in the commune on Sunday night.

Officials confiscated two pistols, including a Zoraki 906 and a Glock. Both handguns had magazines containing 18 bullets. Four passports and 35 shell casings were also recovered, but authorities did not reveal who the passports belonged to.

Additional evidence included 48 plastic bottles containing powder, five bottles of red tablets, two small packets and 307 small bottles of powder, 15 tablets, and other related items suspected to be for producing illicit drugs.

Meng Vang said that police questioned the man and extracted a confession after his arrest, prompting district and anti-drug officials to arrest the woman on Monday in Phnom Penh Thmey commune.

He said the authorities were on the hunt for additional accomplices.
