Information ministry runs ethics workshop for online media

Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith on March 3 presided over the opening of a workshop on “Digital Media Literacy and Tips for Reporting News through Social Media”.

The workshop, help in Phnom Penh, aimed to provide guidance to reporters who had never received training, and also to re-educate those who had defied their training to report in an unprofessional manner.

“The training gives them a clearer understanding of their roles to avoid professional misconduct,” said the ministry.

The full-day session focused on the ethical and professional code of journalists, laws on the press, privacy and the terms of obtaining and using media licences.

Guest speakers included Ministry of Justice secretary of state Kim Santepheap, information ministry secretary of state Pen Bona, and Phos Sovann, head of the information ministry’s General Department of Information and Broadcasting.
