The Ministry of Interior has called on people who have a national identity card that is expired or within 90 days of expiration to fill out a form for exchanging it for a new identity card to guarantee their right to receive various services.

In an October 21 press release, the ministry's Department of Identification said that the new national identity card is valid for 10 years from the date of issuance. Identity cards issued to people in June, 2012 expired in June, 2022 for example.

“In order to guarantee the right to receive various services, especially the political right to use the National ID Card for the upcoming national elections 2023, we call on the people who hold the new national identity cards that are expired or expires in less than 90 days to fill out the form for exchanging it for a new one,” the press release read.
