Japan on February 17 reaffirmed its support for Cambodia’s management of plastic waste and battle against marine plastic pollution

The pledge came two days after Ichitomo Taninai, deputy chief of mission of the Japanese embassy, made a site visit to Sihanoukville for the “Combating Marine Plastic Litter in Cambodia” project, as noted by the Japanese embassy in a statement.

“The project is a technical and financial support by the Government of Japan through UNDP Cambodia, and implemented by the Ministry of Environment to prevent and minimise plastic pollution on land and in the ocean through promotion of a 4R – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – framework,” it said.

“Japan will continue to support Cambodia’s efforts in management of plastic litter and help prevent additional marine plastic pollution,” it vowed.
