The Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation said it had received more than $4.7 million in contributions in the first quarter of this year, calling on donors to provide financial support so the foundation can continue to deliver free paediatric services and treatment.

In a press release on July 14, the foundation noted that it received a total of $4,717,040, of which $869,799 was donations made directly to the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital in Phnom Penh and Jayavarman VII Children’s Hospital in Siem Reap.

The total also included the government’s annual 40 billion riel ($1 million) contribution, the Cambodian Red Cross 4th annual donation of $1 million, and 1.2 billion riel ($300,000) from ACLEDA Bank’s annual donation.

The rest came from Angkor Enterprise – a state-run institution that manages tickets sales for international visitors to the historic site – 62,285 contributors including 36 honourary members, 4,264 supporting members and 716 other individuals, as well as from foundation donation boxes placed in various locations across the country.

The foundation transferred $4,018,260 and 200 million riel to Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital.

The foundation thanked all donors for their continued involvement in raising funds to support Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital in providing free and quality paediatric examination and treatment in accordance with the government’s policy to promote social welfare, especially the health of children and infants.

It also encouraged the public to continue donations to the foundation by becoming honorary members with a contribution of 20,000,000 riel per year and supporting members with 5,000 riel per month or 60,000 riel per year.
