In the first nine months of 2023, the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation had garnered approximately $1,335,000 in donations. Of this sum, the foundation received nearly $900,000, while more than $400,000 was directly donated to Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province.

In September alone, the foundation received donations surpassing $55,000 from 9,435 donors, including 7,995 supporting members and 1,440 other philanthropists.

The foundation also provided nearly $300,000 to support Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, ensuring the sustainability of their efforts in delivering free and comprehensive healthcare to infants and children in Cambodia.

“On behalf of the guardians of infants and children, the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation deeply appreciates all donors who consistently contribute to support the hospital, aiming to ensure a sustainable, efficient and high-quality operation for the well-being of infants and children in the nation,” it said in a statement.

The foundation encourages the public, state institutions and private companies to continue donating to demonstrate solidarity in the spirit of “Khmer helping Khmer”.

Ky Santy, director of Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital in Phnom Penh, said that regular fundraisers are essential to support the hospital. He noted that the hospital has significant financial needs for saving infants and children’s lives, with an average annual expenditure of nearly $40 million. In the first nine months of this year, the hospital had spent more than $30 million.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supports the hospital and donates to the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation. All donated funds play a crucial role in providing free medical care for Cambodian infants and children,” he said.

According to a Kantha Bopha report, in September, the hospital conducted examinations and treated nearly 94,000 children, with approximately 18,000 of them requiring hospitalisation due to serious illnesses.
