The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced that Pursat province’s Bridge No. 28, the tallest bridge in Cambodia, will be temporarily open to the public from April 11-17, before and during the Khmer New Year celebrations.

The ministry explained that the bridge will be open from 6am to 6pm for family cars, while trucks and other heavy vehicles will continue to use the bypass route.

To ensure safety, vehicles will not be permitted to stop on the bridge.

It is the 28th bridge on National Road 10, which connects Battambang and Koh Kong provinces, via Pursat.

Built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation at a cost of $188 million, it is expected to be completed in June.

The structure is 90 metres tall, 537 metres long and 10 metres wide. It spans the Russey Chrum River in Chhay Luk village, in Vela Veng district’s O Som commune.
