The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training on April 27 conducted training to build the capacity of members of the Banteay Meanchey provincial commission and the secretariat for the implementation of the National Employment Policy 2015-2025 to increase competitiveness and productivity.
Som Chamnan, ministry secretary of state and also head of the Secretariat of the Inter-Ministerial Commission, said the National Employment Policy 2015-2025 plays an important role in changing and improving the industrial structure from a labour industry to skill-based labour by 2025.
He added that the policy will also increase competition and productivity to transform a low-value-added industry into a high-value-added industry in line with the National Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025.
“This policy will contribute to national economic development for sustainable and inclusive growth for social harmony. It provides people with decent and productive job opportunities in line with the government's Rectangular Strategy Phase IV,” he stated.
To date, the policy is being actively implemented by ministries and relevant institutions and units, as those activities are also defined in each strategic plan and annual action plans of the work direction and mission of the units concerned.
Chamnan hopes that after the training, the policy would be implemented in Banteay Meanchey more effectively.
The National Employment Policy 2015-2025 was established in line with the context and situation of Cambodia. The policy complies with the provisions of the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) Employment Policy Convention 1964 to improve the livelihood of people through decent jobs and high productivity.
