Prime Minister Hun Manet officially inaugurated the Techo Santepheap National Hospital this morning.
The hospital is the largest in the Kingdom, with a capacity of 9,496 beds, according to the Ministry of Information.
It was built on 7.58ha of land in Kork Roka commune, in the the capital’s Prek Pnov district. The six-building facility also includes 205 beds for full-time on-site staff and 46 beds for stand by nurses.
Construction began in March last year, originally in preparation for any potential worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thanks to the government’s Covid-19 restriction measures and the success of its vaccination programme, the hospital will now contribute to the government’s expansion of healthcare provision, as part of its expansion of public equity.
Manet used the occasion to introduce the first priority area of the first phase of his government’s Pentagonal Strategy, which focuses on the expansion of the Kingdom’s social equity fund.
