Agriculture minister Veng Sakhon and Asian Development Bank (ADB) executive director Anthony McDonald on May 27 discussed the needs of some development projects in the agricultural sector in which the Metro Manila-based multilateral lender could potentially provide financial support, according to a post on Sakhon’s official Facebook page.
The minister asked ADB to consider the possibility of backing some projects, which he said are designed to, among other things, support agricultural production chains; increase fruit and vegetable production; and provide safeguards for safety, quality, quantity and price assurance.
The projects discussed are consistent with the ministry’s Agricultural Development Policy 2021-2030, post-Covid-19 economic recovery planning, and other government policy, the post added.
