The Ministry of Information is looking to build radio and TV stations within the Preah Monivong Bokor National Park in Kampot province’s Bokor town to expand media coverage in the Kingdom’s coastal areas and islands.

Information ministry secretary of state Sok Prasith and Ministry of Environment secretary of state Neth Pheaktra inspected the location for the construction on October 22.

Prasith said engineers had studied the land available at the provincial information department and concluded that larger land was needed to build the station in accordance with technical standards.

“That’s why the information ministry requests cooperation with the environment ministry to look into the possibility of expanding the land size for the construction of the Bokor radio and TV station,” Prasith said.

Citing Pheaktra, he said that technically there is no impact from expanding the broadcasting station and that the information ministry can proceed with the plan.

Pheatra said the expansion must follow the coordinate and must not cover the land belonging to Sokha Hotel Group, which has been granted the rights to develop Bokor Mountain within the park.
