Ministry of Environment officials are continuing a campaign to raise awareness about malaria among local communities and rangers in Kon Khleng Natural Protected Area and Ang Trapeang Thmor Wildlife Sanctuary in Poy Char commune of Banteay Meanchey province's Phnom Srok district.
The ministry said on January 15 that a total of 120 people have participated in the ongoing campaign. Last year, the ministry also provided training to more than 2,000 forest rangers and community members on the prevention of malaria and how to protect themselves from the disease.
“To end malaria in Cambodia, it has to start with us all. We have to protect ourselves, families, communities and people living around us by implementing preventive measures and spreading the message further,” said ministry secretary of state Mom Thany.
She added that the ministry has a policy to support the health, safety and wellbeing of the officials involved.
