Hun Manet, deputy commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, has been leading a working group to set up another Covid-19 treatment site for minor cases.

In a Facebook post on April 21, he said: “In these difficult circumstances, our team has no right to take a rest yet.”

Manet said the team had finished the second step to setting up the centre. Nearly 2,600 beds were added for treatment of patients at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre.

He said the team had continued to set up another Covid-19 treatment centre in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district in preparation for treating more patients if it becomes necessary.

“The working team and I hoped that the infection and spread of Covid-19 will end soon so the locations we set up will not be required to be used. However, we will make efforts to set up these locations quickly for the treatment of people infected with Covid-19,” he said.

He called on the public to join the government in following the guidelines including the "three protections and three don'ts" as well as receiving Covid-19 vaccinations and obeying the lockdown rules to prevent the spread and end the pandemic soon.
