The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, along with partner organisations, recently conducted a consultative workshop with a focus on the draft action plan of the National Policy "Lifelong Learning". The goal was to gather inputs and outline strategic action plans that each relevant institution must carry out.
The July 28 workshop was organised by the General Secretariat of the National Committee for Lifelong Learning, which received support from the German Adult Education Association (DVV).
The workshop was presided over by Nuth Sle – ministry secretary of state and deputy head of the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD) – and Chhem Keat Rithy, secretary of state at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation.
The key objective of the workshop was to raise policy awareness and discuss the draft action plan. It aimed to review the strategic goals and key activities, and to identify which actions the relevant institutions should implement in a phased manner to accomplish the set objectives.
Sle highlighted the importance of the workshop, emphasising its role in gathering key inputs to define strategic goals and appropriate actions for the target groups benefiting from the national policy on lifelong learning.
He extended his gratitude towards the involved ministries, institutions, UNESCO, DVV International Cambodia and development partners for spearheading the national policy and the action plans.
The ministry underscored that lifelong learning has become a significant topic in education. It is not only a useful tool for enjoyment and freedom but also crucial in responding to the ever shifting demands of the evolving labour market. The concept of lifelong learning emphasises the need for ongoing education for every citizen in all circumstances.
According to the education ministry, it embodies a continuous process of both formal and informal education. Lifelong learning aims to develop moral civic education and life skills, enabling individuals to become good citizens and live harmoniously in society.
