SINGAPORE (AP) - Singapore said on May 28 it was ready to help develop Burma's
economy and bring democracy there.
In a statement released at the end of a five-day visit by a delegation led by Lt.
Gen. Khin Nyunt, the foreign ministry said: "Singapore hopes that economic development
will enable Burma to establish an orderly progression towards an open government
and an open economy, so that Burma can rejoin the regional community and thereby
contribute to regional stability.
