The Ministry of Civil Service and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport have successfully selected 100 new physical education teachers.

Civil service minister Hun Many, who chairs the recruitment committee, announced the successful conclusion of the process on February 5.

He described the selection process, which involved 1,892 candidates, 579 of them women, as being conducted with “merit, transparency, justice and efficiency”.

Many explained that the candidates, eight of them women, will receive an additional two or four years of training from the education ministry before they are deployed across the Kingdom.

Kong Samneang, head of the Federation of Education Services in Cambodia, said the teachers who passed the exam are of high-quality and will promote the development of human resources.

“In order to ensure they are effective, the ministry will need to monitor them, as well as the quality and effectiveness of their training,” he added.

On February 6, Prime Minister Hun Manet took to social media to explain that the 100 successful teachers will become catalysts for human resource development, and will join his seventh-mandate government in strengthening the education sector.

“The new teachers must follow the ministry’s guidelines, so they can help to develop human resources that reach their full potential. Their contributions will be an important part of achieving our vision of becoming a high middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income one by 2050,” he said.
