Seven large companies offered over 1,000 job vacancies to job-seekers in the real estate, banking and wholesale and retail sale sectors during a July 27 career forum.

The event was hosted by the National Employment Agency (NEA) under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC).

Makro Supermarket, Pate, BS Land & Home, IK, AEON Specialized Bank (Cambodia) Plc, Cathay United Bank and JACCS Finance Cambodia were among the employers offering vacancies.

Sokhoeurn Chhorm, manager of the NEA’s Phnom Penh Job Centre, told The Post on July 26 that the forum was a special opportunity for job-seekers and employers to gather on the spot for interviews.

“Job-seekers could meet with them, submit their application forms and interview at once. Previously, applicants sometimes needed to wait a long time for an interview.

“Companies would have to announce the positions available and then wait for application forms. The government established the NEA to organise these programmes to fast-track the process,” he said.

He said the forums are held every month at the Phnom Penh Job Centre to ensure job-seekers can receive information quickly and easily.

“Each month, the job centre works with partners to provide thousands of job vacancies. Companies, enterprises or institutions that need a workforce reach out to us,” he said.

The NEA also conducts training sessions to prepare applicants for the job market, including CV writing, preparedness for interviews and soft skills.
