Prime Minister Hun Sen on February 8 received an antique teapot, said to date back from the 19th century, from an elderly couple residing on the outskirts of the capital. The teapot will be donated to the National Museum.
“I received an antique teapot from grandfather Long Saroeun and grandmother Yos Hiek who live in Chaom Chao II of Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district,” Hun Sen said in a social media post.
The post said the teapot was made of clay and copper and decorated in the Chinese artistic style of the 19th century, and that it originated from Kampheng village in Takeo province’s Prey Kabas district.
Saroeun, now in his 80s, and his family handed the teapot to the premier at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, according to the state-run news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).
