Police in Pursat province have arrested two men and are hunting down three more suspects after they attacked a farmer couple, killing the husband over alleged sorcery in Bakan district’s Boeung Bot Kandorl commune on Saturday night.
District police chief Neang Vuth said on Monday that Thou Thorn, 83, was struck to death with bamboo sticks while his wife Bun Nem, 72, was shot in the leg with a home-made rifle.
Vuth said police arrested Khun Dara, 53, an hour after the murder and Bun Chanthorn, 52, on Monday morning.
Dara was arrested at his house after police found a bamboo stick that matched the one found at the crime scene.
“Two days before the incident, the suspect filed a complaint accusing the victim of killing his daughter through sorcery,” Vuth said.
