The Apsara National Authority (ANA) has completed restorations at the southern portion of Pre Rup temple's east gate, in Siem Reap province, nearly 11 months after work started in February 2021.
ANA on January 14 said its technical team "carried out some important tasks including consolidating the lower structure, reinforcing the walls as well as restoring the cracked and decayed walls".
“The team is currently conducting a general clean-up on the site and examining other areas of the temple which are at high risk,” ANA said.
Separately, ANA said 80 per cent of planned restorations at West Prasat Top temple's central tower have been completed, commenting that work has been excruciating "because some stones are rotten and lost".
"The remaining work, such as the restoration of the tower from the pediment to the roof, is scheduled to be completed in mid-2022," it said.
According to ANA, the restoration of this temple has been carried out in collaboration with the Nara National Institute of Japan.
