The Ministry of Public Works and Transport will begin trialling the Road Care Supervision System, a software system that is used to check the quality of roads. The trial period will last six months, and is due to kick off later this month.
In an August 4 social media post, the ministry explained that the supervision function is a new function which will be added to the existing Road Care mobile app. The new function will be employed to make the management road quality inspections, repairs and maintenance more efficient, in line with the government’s digital goals.
In order to ensure the effectiveness and transparency of the supervision function, a team from the ministry’s General Department of Technical and Public Affairs held training sessions for the officials who would employ it.
The ministry said the new function would make it easier for ministry officials to follow up on the quality of road management, including access to detailed history and reporting functionality.
