A second government cash payout to people identified as vulnerable to inflation is to start on April 10, exactly five months after the first, according to a letter dated April 7 signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Beneficiaries can receive the cash at any Wing agent, the letter said, adding that the government intervention measure aims to ease the livelihoods of Cambodian families, especially the poor, vulnerable and at-risk ones.

“This intervention is in line with the government’s policy of not abandoning anyone.

“The policy clearly demonstrates the government’s responsibility and skilled leadership in the socio-economic development of Cambodia in a resilient, equitable and inclusive manner,” it said, adding that the government will keep tabs on the wellbeing of Cambodians and intervene “in a timely manner” when necessary.
