Siem Reap bans heavy vehicles amid floods; ANA inspects conditions of land and roads in Angkor area

Siem Reap bans heavy vehicles amid floods; ANA inspects conditions of land and roads in Angkor area

The Siem Reap provincial Department of Public Works and Transport has issued a notice suspending heavy vehicles from several roads in the province.

At the same time, officials from the Apsara National Authority (ANA) are inspecting the condition of the land and roads at the Angkor Archaeological Park, following heavy rainfall over the past few days.

The provincial hall's September 22 notice said that as the heavy rains have caused floods, some roads have been submerged and potentially damaged, so the department has to suspend heavy vehicles pending inspections by a team of engineers.

The notice added that heavy vehicles are barred from entering the following roads, until further notice: National Road 64 (Dam Dek-Preah Vihear), National Road 67 (Siem Reap-Anlong Veng), National Road 68 (Kralanh-Oddar Meanchey), Provincial Road 265E (Rolous-Kampong Phluk), Provincial Road 266C (Svay Thom-Banteay Srei), Provincial Road 266F (Puok-Angkor Chum), Provincial Road 2673 (Angkor Chum-Varin), Provincial Road 2676 (Toul Krous-Ta Siem), Provincial Road 2645 (Svay Leu-Sre Noi) and Provincial Road 62-3 (Beng Mealea-Khvav).

The department calls on drivers to comply and cooperate until further notice.

At the Angkor park, a team from the ANA began their inspections on September 21.

Hang Peou, director-general of the ANA, led the inspection personally, accompanied by his deputies along with national and international experts.
