The Siem Reap Provincial Administration has decided to shut Dom Dek market in Sotr Nikom district for two weeks, while in Ratanakkiri province the authorities will keep Koun Mom market in Koun Mom district closed until further notice to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In Siem Reap, Dom Dek market will remain shut through July 15.

In Ratanakkiri, provincial governor Thong Savun said on July 1 that amid the closure, the district administration will bar entry and exit and test all people who have had direct contact with Covid-19 positive persons.

“Those who have been directly or indirectly exposed to the virus need to inform the provincial health department for rapid tests from July 1 onwards,” Savun said.

It was not immediately clear how many people in the market areas in the two provinces who have been exposed to the virus.
