Wat Bo Primary School in Siem Reap is embracing the digital future with a pioneering initiative. Forty of its teachers have recently completed a remote information technology training course delivered by expert educators from South Korea.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport said the training was designed to promote IT  use in teaching, with a focus on incorporating artificial intelligence (AI).

This approach is aimed at enhancing education at the primary level and aligns with the global digital evolution. The intensive training took place over two days, from July 18 to 19.

The ministry's IT department expressed gratitude to their South Korean counterparts for spearheading the initiative.

The project, run by APEC for Collaborative Education (IACE), provided a valuable opportunity for 40 eager Cambodian teachers to upgrade their skills.

Now that the training is complete, ongoing support and guidance from the Korean experts will continue to assist the Cambodian teachers in developing action and lesson plans for IT-integrated teaching and learning at Wat Bo Primary School.

In 2020, the ministry established a four-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea's education ministry, set to run until 2024.

Wat Bo Primary School is the chosen site for the programme, aimed at equalising learning opportunities and enhancing the quality of education.

This is being achieved by raising awareness of how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education can help teachers and students alike to keep pace with the rapidly evolving global technology landscape.
