The Kingdom has asked for Singapore’s continue support in training the Royal Cambodian Army, and the city-state said it was ready to send trainers or accept troops for a course.
The request was made during a meeting between Lieutenant General Mao Sophan, commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces’ (RCAF) Brigade 70, and Brigadier-General Frederick Choo, chief of the general staff of the Singapore Army, on February 18 at the Singapore Airshow 2022.
Lieutenant General Sophan thanked Singapore for providing training to the Cambodian army and its willingness to continue to do so.
The RCAF said in a statement: “Lieutenant General Mao Sophan requested the Singaporean side to provide training to the Cambodian army, and strengthen ties and cooperation between the two armies, by bolstering relations between their units.”
And Choo was quoted as saying: “The Singapore army is ready to accept Cambodian soldiers for training in Singapore, and will send designated trainers to Cambodia.”
He also commended Lieutenant General Sophan’s participation in the Singapore Airshow, saying his presence reflects the “good friendship” between the armies and peoples of the two countries.
