The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration has appealed to workers and drivers of trucks that transport those employed at the bicycle producing factory A&J Cambodia in Bavet town to place themselves in quarantine after they stormed out of the factory for fear of contracting Covid-19.

The administration said the workers frantically rushed home at 3:50pm on May 26 from the factory in the Tay Seng I Special Economic Zone.

“Those who have Covid-19 symptoms like high temperature, cough, sneezing, sore throat, and short breath need to undergo Covid-19 testing immediately,” it said, also advising them to monitor their health for 14 days.

The appeal came after a large number of workers were seen flocking out of the factory upon learning that 60 out of the roughly 1,000 workers there tested positive for Covid-19, according to Fresh News.
