Thai embassy and investor in Cambodia organized a corporate social responsibility (CSR) event in Koh Kong on August 28. EMBASSY OF THAILAND
In a heartfelt gesture of cross-border camaraderie, the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh teamed up with Thai investors for an altruistic cause in Koh Kong province.
The event unfolded on August 28 and was brimming with the spirit of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Organised annually, this year’s outreach had a special venue: Sre Ambel Referral Hospital.
This district hospital plays a pivotal role in sustaining the community’s health and wellness, offering essential public health services to multiple districts.
“The main goal is to reciprocate the goodwill of the Cambodian people, fostering economic and social growth for communities on both sides of the border,” said Thai ambassador Cherdkit Atthakor.
For Koh Kong, one of the provinces that share borders with Thailand, the embassy extended donations of crucial equipment aimed at furthering local development.
Given the province’s significance as a transit point, the focus on enhancing facilities at its hospitals and schools is well-placed.
“This CSR event significantly bolsters the hospital’s capacity to provide better care for the people of Koh Kong province,” he said.
“Moreover, it provides an opportunity for Thai investors to explore further developmental and investment avenues, notably through a visit to the Dara Sakor project, a large-scale development initiative in Koh Kong. All this cements the friendship between our two nations,” he added.
While the event was met with enthusiasm, deputy provincial governor Sok Sothy said he was yet to receive detailed information about the ambassador’s visit and the ensuing delegation.
When asked for further insights, he deferred to Chi Ra, another deputy governor overseeing this initiative, who was not available for comment.
To Moeng, director of the provincial health department, also could not be reached for a statement.
However, the Sre Ambel Referral Hospital expressed its warm reception of the Thai ambassador and delegation, underscoring the significance of the event held at their facility.
