In a bid to bring public services closer to its citizens, another Public Service Centre under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has officially opened at AEON Mall Mean Chey, also known as AEON 3.
This new location aims to facilitate public access to services such as driver's licence renewals and vehicle ownership transfers.
At the June 29 inauguration ceremony, minister Sun Chanthol expressed the ministry's commitment to serving the people.
"We strive to provide services quickly, effectively and transparently. We're not the masters of the people; we're their servants. Our mission is to work diligently to deliver these necessary services on time," he said.
Chanthol urged people to directly utilise the services provided at public centres, discouraging the use of brokers for tasks such as driver's licence renewals.
"People can come any day, including for driver's licence renewal services or to request a transfer of vehicle ownership. It's not necessary to use brokers, which can be costly. We invite you to apply directly," he said.
AEON Mall (Cambodia) CEO Tsuboyama Sayuki confirmed its partnership with the ministry to provide free public services from June 29.
"Aeon's mission in Cambodia is to contribute to a rich life for the Cambodian people. This partnership is a part of that commitment," he said.
Heang Sotheayuth, head of the ministry’s General Department of Technology and Public Relations, hailed the inauguration as a significant achievement. Since 2016, he said the ministry has opened public service centres in seven locations, including various shopping malls.
Significantly, AEON MALL Mean Chey is providing space to the public service centre free of charge for a five-year period. The centre operates seven days a week, from morning until 10pm.
According to the ministry, these public service centres aim to bring services closer to the people and leverage technology to deliver public services in a more cost-effective, timely, and transparent manner.
