The Ministry of Public Works and Transport will conduct another Facebook live show on September 30 with the theme “understanding special and personalised number plates” for vehicle owners who have any queries about such customised plates.
Ministry spokesman Heang Sotheayuth told The Post on September 23 that the live show will be attended by Koy Sodany – the ministry’s secretary of state and chairperson of the inter-ministerial commission to manage sales for special and personalised number plates.
This would be the second live show after the first one was held on August 30 hosted by public works minister Sun Chanthol under the theme “progress of the public works and transport sector”.
The ministry initiated the programme to provide information to the public on the mission, vision, achievements and progress of the ministry’s works.
People who have questions on the topic are urged to leave their questions in the comments section so that the speaker can answer them in real time.
“This programme was initiated to enable people and journalists to raise questions about the progress in the public works and transport sector,” he said.
Transparency International Cambodia executive director Pech Pisey said this is a good initiative enabling people to communicate with providers of public services through social media.
He said the show would be even better if people could ask questions without restrictions and the official answering the question went straight to the issue. It is a forum to discuss real problems happening in society with the leaders and it could be an example for other ministries to follow.
“I think this is a good move for transparency … I see that minister Chanthol tends to spearhead programmes pushing to discuss issues and address public concerns. If other ministries can follow suit, it would enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of their services,” he said.
