UNGA's Shahid set for Aug 21-22 visit in Cambodia

Abdulla Shahid, president of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), will pay a two-day visit to Cambodia on August 21-22 to discuss various issues including the "constructive roles" played by the Kingdom within the UN and ASEAN frameworks.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Shahid will pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister Hun Sen and National Assembly president Heng Samrin.

He will also have a meeting with Ouch Borith, the Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister who also serves as the foreign ministry's permanent secretary of state.

“Shahid's visit will emphasise the constructive roles played by Cambodia in the UN, especially in its capacity as the ASEAN chair, along with the roles of ASEAN and the UN in reinforcing multilateralism to address global issues, including climate change, post-pandemic recovery and sustainable development.

“Revitalising the UN and strengthening the ASEAN-UN partnership will also be among the topics for discussion,” the ministry said.
