The Ministry of Health has permitted foreign diplomats, UN and International NGO officials to undergo quarantine at Himawari Hotel in the capital in case they do not have a separate place suitable for this purpose, but the government would not be responsible for the expenses.

In a letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn on July 15, health minister Mam Bun Heng explained that self-quarantine by the officials is allowed only if they have a separate place to stay during the period.

He noted that an apartment building is not regarded as a separate location because its lift is shared by all tenants.

“Diplomats who cannot do quarantine at their embassy, and UN or international NGO officials holding Visa A who do not have a separate residence can undergo quarantine at Himawari hotel, with all expenses being the responsibility of the individuals or their institution,” Bun Heng said.
