More than 500 representatives of Hun Many’s volunteer medical team provided free medical checkups and treatment to more than 5,000 people in Samrong Tong district’s Skuh commune in Kampong Speu on June 11.
Leang Phaly, secretary of state of the Ministry of Planning and chief executive officer of the volunteer medical team, said free medical examinations and treatment was carried out on 5,718, at the campus of Hun Sen Phnom Cheal Secondary School.
“Since the team was formed in December 2012, we have conducted offered free examinations 1,076 times, in the capital and all 24 provinces,” he explained.
Phaly added that the medical teams had treated more than 11.77 million people. With each examination and treatment calculated to be valued at $50, which meant total expenditure equalled approximately $588 million, in terms of time and money.
“The examinations and treatment – as well as our participation in the national Covid-19 vaccination campaign – are done purely in the humanitarian spirit. We want to express the sentiment that Khmer love Khmer and that we are all united in one future. Access to our treatment has no relation with any religious of political affiliation,” he said.
More than 4,600 volunteers from Many’s medical teams have administered over 10 million Covid-19 vaccinations since the national campaign began.
Kheng Samvada, secretary of state of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and chair of the government working group for the Samrong Tong district, praised the volunteers for their excellent work and generosity in giving their time.
“Their actions are an example of the success of the Kingdom’s vaccination campaign, which helped us to reduce the risk of Covid-19,” she said.
