The updated 2023 voter list includes more than 160,000 new voters, meaning 245 additional voting stations are requires.
The review and complaint period for the lists ended on December 31, according to the National Election Committee (NEC).
According to the updated list, the number of eligible voters stands at 9,871,495, with 5,660,737 of them are women. The total represents 89.92 per cent of people aged 18 and over, the legal age for voting.
The new figures represent a jump of 160,840 over the 9,710,655 voters who were recorded in 2022, ahead of the July 2023 general election. The election saw the Cambodian People’s Party win by a landside, with over 82 per cent of the 8,214,430 ballots which were cast.
The list was publicly displayed in each commune across the country for 19 days in October, with voters able to file complaints or requests corrections to their details.
During this period, the NEC received nine complaints, all of which were resolved by December 31, according to committee spokesman Som Sorida.
Sorida shared his appreciation for the officials and authorities whose efforts made the update process a success, noting that many of them had had to overcome challenging conditions, including heavy rain and flooding.
