Cambodia National Rescue Party supporters gathered outside the Appeal Court in Phnom Penh early this morning in support of imprisoned party leader Kem Sokha. Despite having a court hearing on the legality of his detention today, Sokha remained in prison in Tbong Khmum province, with officials citing security concerns. After the court commenced the hearing in his absence, Sokha's lawyers walked out of the courtroom in protest, and outside made a call for "justice". However, in spite of their absence, the court proceeded with the hearing, dismissing the defence's assertion that Sokha's parliamentary immunity had been violated and ruling his continued detention legal.
