It wasn’t poor seasoning that left a bad taste in authorities’ mouths, but rather a load of bad chicken meat they found and confiscated in Battambang province’s Phnom Proek district.

Stopping several cars for inspection on Tuesday, customs officers found a total of 130 kilos of rotten poultry, most of it hidden under loads of imported fruit.

The meat was set ablaze and the offenders were sent on their way after being reminded that past-date protein wasn’t tolerated in Cambodia.
